Sato Takeuchi. Botanical Calendar in Edo

Event organised by Sato Takeuchi
The botanical calendar expressed the beauty of nature during the Edo period. A floral calendar also existed in this period (a seasonal plant representing each month).
In Japan, there is a beautiful word called "Kachofughetsu": respecting the beauty of nature, of the landscape, enjoying and experiencing art in the beauty of nature. The Hanafuda, of playing cards, are combined in this floral calendar and Kachofugetsu.
Based on these motifs, I plan to make the plants out of glass and express the hand-drawn background in the wooden frame. Also, I would like to propose these works that allows the viewer to view the world as Ukiyoe.
