Dylan Katz. Uncanny Ice

Event organised by Dylan Katz
Balanced on a pedestal in the heart of Venice, what appears to be blocks of ice stand, unmelting in the heat. Uncanny Ice uses the power of art and the raw beauty of glass to spark an emotional response. Drawing upon both the similarities and stark differences between glass and ice, these pieces compel the viewer to reflect on the relationship between man and nature.

Dylan Katz (USA,1982) was introduced to glass at age 12. He has worked with masters of the craft in the USA and Europe. In 2016, together with his wife Greta, he founded his own glass blowing studio in Tampere Finland. More recently he has been creating sculptural works of art in glass. The Glass Art Society invited him to demonstrate making his Uncanny Ice sculptures at their annual conference in 2022.
