Exhibition Reception: Akira Hara & Sofia Zevi
Event organised by Chiarastella Cattana
The original works of Akira Hara are presented for the first time at the The Italian Glass Weeks in collaboration with Sofia Zevi. Inspired by both his native land, Hokkaido, and his acquired home, Venice, Hara’s work links Japanese modernity and craftsmanship with Murano tradition and technique, bringing a new perspective and innovation to the art of glassblowing.
Akira Hara decided from a young age to dedicate himself to the craft of glassblowing. After arriving in Venice in 1998, he started working for Pagnin and quickly acquired the status of maestro in 2004. Today, he continues to work as a maestro at Seguso, where he also develops his own designs. Sofia Zevi holds a master’s degree in Integrated Design from MIT and lives in Milan.
