Jiemin Park. Planets

Event organised by Jiemin Park
Each bubble preserves moments of stress with colours.
I make stressed glass pieces and use the effect of polarisation to visually reveal the colours of stress hidden within the clear glass.
With lights, projections of stressed glass pieces express their stress as various colours and textures and the most vivid colours are actually markers of extreme stress. The outer hemisphere, which is sandblasted on the inside, holds the projections.

Jiemin Park (Korea, 1987) received a BFA from Hongik University and an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Jiemin participated in The Venice Glass Week Hub under 35 and a Virtual exhibition of the GAS Conference in 2021. She received a scholarship from The Corning Museum of Glass and Urban Glass and was selected for New Glass review 41. Jiemin is invited to an Artist Residency at the Museum of Glass, Tacoma in 2022.
