Maria Koshenkova. Fauns Flesh

Event organised by Maria Koshenkova
The Glass Sculptures "Fauns Flesh" evoke a paradox between pure materialism and pure instinct. They examine the clash between emotion and material - and our struggle as human beings to suppress our immediate need to function in a civilised world.
Artist translates the power of imperfection and the dynamics of raw emotions materialised in glass and reveal the violence hidden in graceful and beautiful things - and conversely the beauty that seeks to justify violent acts.

Maria Koshenkova (Russia, 1981) is a Russian/Danish artist.
In her glass sculptures, Koshenkova merge the essential raw conditions of being human–installed by her Eastern European background - with adopted Scandinavian aesthetics.
Maria has has exhibited nationally and world-wide for the past 17 years. Currently her glass works are part of the The Pavilion of Denmark "We Walk the Earth" at the 59th La Biennale di Venezia
